Police: 17-year-old girl shot and killed in Southwest Philadelphia

Authorities are investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl in Southwest Philadelphia, which occurred just before midnight on Friday in the 700 block of Elmwood Avenue. The incident was initially reported one block away, but officers found the girl shot in the chest in a nearby back alley while searching the area.

Despite immediate medical response, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Chief Inspector D.F. Pace indicated that the teen was walking in the alley when she was shot at close range.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and no weapon has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities actively seeking leads to understand the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.
