JCSO: New Market man facing several charges after evidence of 'possible child sex crimes' found at home

NEW MARKET, Tenn. (WVLT) - A New Market man has been arrested in connection with a child sexual exploitation investigation conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
The authorities responded to Fielden Store Road on Thursday following reports of suspicious activity and discovered evidence suggesting potential child sex crimes at the location.
Investigators from both the Criminal Investigation Division and the Internet Crimes Against Children came to the scene to assist in the ongoing investigation.
As a result of their findings, 59-year-old Leslie A. Byrd was arrested and charged with various offenses related to child sexual exploitation.
Byrd is currently held at the Jefferson County Detention Center, with a bond set at $500,000.
