Woman with active warrants arrested for drug distribution, police say

SALT LAKE CITY -- A woman with multiple active warrants was arrested for drug distribution on Thursday night, as reported by the Salt Lake City Police Department. The incident occurred near 800 W. North Temple, an area notorious for high crime and drug trafficking activities.
While conducting surveillance, officers observed 26-year-old Daphne Cailin McPeak engaging in suspicious transactions with several individuals. Witnesses reported seeing money placed on the ground, followed by individuals picking up an unknown item from behind McPeak before leaving quickly, which led officers to suspect a drug sale was occurring.
Police intervened to stop McPeak before she could remove herself from the area, prompting a search that uncovered cocaine, fentanyl tablets, marijuana, and a substantial sum of cash, according to the booking affidavit. The discovery reinforced the officers' suspicions regarding her involvement in drug distribution.
Additionally, the investigation revealed that McPeak had multiple active warrants for her arrest, including felonies related to child endangerment. Her prior criminal history added to the officers' concerns about public safety.
Consequently, McPeak was arrested and charged with three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, reflecting the serious nature of her alleged activities and prior legal issues.
