Suspects ram vehicle into East Memphis local business, steal cell phones, police say

Early Saturday morning in Memphis, suspects executed a brazen smash-and-grab at a local business, targeting cell phones. The incident occurred at 4:46 a.m. when police responded to an alarm at the Digital Wireless store in East Memphis. Upon arrival, officers found the front door badly damaged and numerous shattered glass cabinets, all emptied of merchandise.

Surveillance footage revealed that the theft began at 2:33 a.m., when a silver Hyundai Elantra reversed into the store, causing significant damage. Two males exited the vehicle armed with a hammer and a firearm, promptly taking several cell phones before fleeing the scene.

The Hyundai returned to the store at 3:12 a.m., bringing in two additional suspects who continued the theft by grabbing more phones and disabling the security cameras. The police have yet to determine if more merchandise was stolen after this second entry.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH. The investigation remains ongoing as the Memphis Police Department seeks to identify and apprehend those involved in the crime.
