North Carolina man wanted for armed robbery arrested in Wayne County, police say

A man from North Carolina, Tony Ray Spaulding, was arrested in Wayne County, West Virginia, on Saturday morning after being wanted for multiple armed robberies in Greensboro, North Carolina. Spaulding faces several felony counts due to his suspected involvement in these crimes, including a recent robbery at a convenience store in Guilford County.
The Kenova Police Department had been monitoring Spaulding for several days, ultimately locating him at the intersection of Barger Hill Road and West Virginia Route 75. Authorities were able to intercept him without incident near Simpson's Foor Mart, bringing a swift conclusion to their surveillance efforts.
Kenova Police Chief Bob Sullivan praised the coordinated investigation, which involved multiple agencies including the United States Marshal's Service and the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. He highlighted the dedication of the arresting officers in resolving the case effectively.
Following his arrest, Spaulding was taken to Western Regional Jail, where he is currently awaiting extradition proceedings. Officials indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and there may be additional charges as they look into the possibility of two other individuals aiding Spaulding in evading law enforcement.
This successful apprehension reinforces the importance of collaboration among law enforcement agencies in tracking down fugitives and addressing violent crimes effectively.
