2 arrested; meth, gun seized in Salem traffic stop

Two men were arrested and a third cited after a traffic stop in Salem led to the discovery of methamphetamine and a handgun, according to the Salem Police Department. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning when officers stopped a vehicle containing three men near Silverton Road and Northeast Lana Avenue.
The driver of the car, 37-year-old Michael Martin Trevino, was found to have an outstanding warrant and was driving without a valid license. He was arrested and later released on bail after processing.
One of the passengers, 28-year-old Gavino Manuel Rocha, initially resisted arrest but was found in possession of a firearm and nearly eight ounces of methamphetamine. He has been charged with several drug and weapons offenses and is currently being held at the Marion County Jail, with an arraignment scheduled for Monday.
The third man in the vehicle was cited for drug possession but was released at the scene following the traffic stop. The incident highlights ongoing issues with drug-related crime in the area.
