HONOLULU, Hawaii (KITV) -- Authorities are currently searching for Jerwan Lalimo, a 29-year-old inmate from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center, who failed to return on Friday evening.

Lalimo, who stands at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 300 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair. He is incarcerated for charges including unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and terroristic threatening.

His absence may lead to an escape charge, classified as a Class C felony, which carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison. Lalimo was part of the community custody program, allowing him certain privileges including passes for work opportunities in the community.

The Laumaka Work Furlough Center is a minimum-security institution designed for inmates actively seeking or holding employment. It accommodates community custody inmates, the lowest classification status.

Anyone with information regarding Lalimo's location is urged to contact 911 or the Sheriffs Division at 808-586-1352.
