SWAT team arrests accused kidnapper after hours-long hotel standoff

WEST PALM BEACH (CBS12) -- A SWAT team arrested a man following a 911 call from a woman who reported being held hostage in his hotel room. The incident took place on Saturday morning at a hotel located on Centrepark Drive North.

According to police, the victim informed dispatch that she had been held against her will for more than six hours. Upon arriving at the scene just before 9 a.m., officers discovered the suspect had barricaded himself inside the hotel room and was refusing to comply with their requests to surrender.

Detectives quickly worked to assess the situation and established a warrant for aggravated battery and kidnapping against the suspect. The SWAT team was then deployed to contain and apprehend him.

After successfully arresting the man, authorities reported that he was taken to a hospital for treatment of an unrelated injury. The investigation continues as police gather more information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
