Florida Teen Arrested In Connection To Girl's Murder In Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the death of a teenage girl found near Cypress Lake Preserve on Thursday morning. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office reported that a passerby discovered the body off Ridge Manor Boulevard at around 9:35 a.m.
According to Sheriff Al Nienhuis, the victim, identified as Abbriella Elliott, had left her home earlier that day to meet someone, who is believed to be her killer. Nienhuis indicated that a witness had seen her leave and confirmed her relationship with the suspect, Cameron Cubel.
The sheriff stated that Cubel allegedly used an "edged weapon" in a violent act, emphasizing that the murder was not random but rather fueled by significant passion and aggression. Following the investigation, law enforcement is proceeding with first-degree murder charges against the boy.
Abbriella had only recently celebrated her 16th birthday just two weeks before her tragic death. The Sheriff's Office is now seeking further information from the public, encouraging anyone with knowledge about the case to reach out.
