San Diego Police are currently seeking the driver of a Mercedes Benz involved in a fatal collision with a bicyclist early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Balboa Avenue, where a 36-year-old cyclist was riding in the same direction as the vehicle.

According to reports, the cyclist veered into the path of the Mercedes, leading to the collision. Following the accident, the driver fled the scene without providing assistance to the victim. Paramedics transported the cyclist to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

At this time, authorities have not released the name of the deceased bicyclist. The San Diego Police Traffic Division has taken the lead on the investigation and is actively searching for the vehicle involved in the incident.

They are looking for a light-colored, possibly gray, 2016-2022 Mercedes Benz E class sedan. It’s reported that the car's front end is likely damaged, with missing grill or front body pieces as a result of the crash.
