McFarland police to conduct DUI checkpoint Saturday night
The McFarland Police Department will host a DUI and driver's license checkpoint on Saturday, March 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. within city limits. Officers will focus on identifying impaired drivers and ensuring that motorists have the proper licenses.
Checkpoint locations are strategically chosen based on areas that have historically seen high rates of DUI arrests and crashes. Those caught driving under the influence may face severe penalties, including fines up to $10,000, potential jail time, and mandatory DUI education programs.
Officials encourage the public to help maintain road safety by reporting any suspicious driving behavior to 911. Impaired driving, whether due to alcohol, drugs, or fatigue, poses a significant risk by slowing reaction times and affecting judgment.
The McFarland Police Department emphasizes that a single poor decision can lead to devastating consequences for both the driver and others on the road.
This checkpoint is being funded through the CHP Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program, underscoring the department's commitment to enhancing public safety.
