TN man accused of setting market on fire with people inside

PALMER, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated arson, following a suspicious fire at the Palmer Market in Grundy County. The incident occurred during business hours, putting customers and staff at risk.
The investigation was initiated by the Grundy County Sheriff's Office after Fire Chief Jared Meeks reported the fire. It’s alleged that Nicholas Callahan intentionally set the store ablaze while people were inside and subsequently fled the scene on a bicycle.
Authorities managed to locate and apprehend Callahan shortly after the incident. In addition to aggravated arson, he is facing charges of aggravated vandalism and criminal trespassing among others.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries related to the fire, but the investigation remains active. The sheriff’s office is continuing to gather information to understand the events surrounding the fire.
Officials are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward as they work to piece together the details of this alarming situation.
