Vigil held in honor of husband allegedly murdered by wife

Friends and family of Jordan Baxter, a SEPTA engineer tragically murdered, gathered to honor his memory at the Murphy Recreation Center in Philadelphia. The somber occasion reflected the deep sense of loss felt by those who knew and loved him. Lisa Haines, Baxter's cousin, expressed the collective grief, stating, "He was a wonderful, wonderful man, and this is a senseless, senseless thing."
As attendees shared memories of Baxter, his cousins reminisced about his joyful spirit. Anthony Lee described moments from their childhood, highlighting how Baxter found happiness in simple pleasures like playing in the playground. Valerie Williams, his aunt, emphasized the love he received from his family, reinforcing the impact of his loss.
Despite the celebration of his life, questions lingered surrounding the circumstances of Baxter's death. Valerie Williams recounted the days leading to the tragedy, recalling a visit from Baxter just before his untimely demise. The shocking news came after police investigated a report of screaming, leading to the discovery of Baxter's body on a plastic sheet outside his home.
The investigation revealed that Baxter died from a gunshot wound to the back of his head, with troubling evidence found at the scene, including blood on a mattress and a gun placed on his chest. His wife, Danielle Baxter, was arrested the day after the incident and charged with his murder.
In a poignant send-off, the vigil concluded with the release of red and white balloons in Jordan's honor. Cousin Kahree Williams encapsulated the sentiment of those present, stating, "He may be gone but that doesn't mean he'll never be forgotten," as they all held on to the cherished memories of a beloved family member.
