A man was apprehended by the Los Angeles Police Department on Friday after a tense standoff at a home in Chatsworth. The situation unfolded when officers were called to the residence on Tipico Street at around 2:20 p.m. in response to reports of an armed assault suspect. Upon their arrival, the suspect aimed a shotgun at a police helicopter flying overhead.

After threatening the helicopter, the man retreated to the pool area of the house, lying down for several hours as law enforcement surrounded the property. It remains unclear if he actually fired at the helicopter during the incident. The police ultimately deployed a SWAT team, which took the suspect into custody at approximately 6:18 p.m.

Residents living nearby were evacuated for safety during the confrontation but were allowed to return home once the situation was resolved. The identity of the suspect and the specific charges he faces have not yet been disclosed.

Footage captured by KTLA-TV from a helicopter overhead showed the man lying face down by the pool, with two shotguns visible on a table nearby. He appeared to display some movement, suggesting he was still alive during the standoff.

The homeowners of the property were reportedly unfamiliar with the suspect and unaware of the origins of the weapons involved in the incident.
