Doorman shot to death, bystander hurt outside southeast Houston bar, police say

HOUSTON -- A gunman is being sought by police following the tragic shooting of a doorman outside Latina's Bar in southeast Houston early Sunday morning. The incident, which also left a bystander injured, occurred around 1:40 a.m. on Telephone Road near Fairway Drive.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident escalated from an argument between a patron and the doorman. After a brief confrontation, the patron stepped away momentarily only to return armed, opening fire and striking both the doorman and a nearby bystander.

The Houston Fire Department arrived shortly after the shooting and declared the doorman deceased at the scene. The bystander, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, was transported to a hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

Witnesses reported that the gunman fled the scene, heading north on Telephone Road. Authorities are actively investigating the incident and collecting evidence.
