Coroner identifies 18-year-old killed in shooting in Gaffney parking lot

GAFFNEY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Cherokee County Coroner's Office confirmed that an 18-year-old was fatally shot at the Limestone Apartments on Saturday night. The victim has been identified as Javlin Everette De'Angelo Dawkins, a resident of Spartanburg.

The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. while Dawkins was in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Following the shooting, he was transported to Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency department at 11:48 p.m.

As of now, there are no details available regarding a suspect in the case.

The Gaffney Police Department has stated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, assuring the public that there is no ongoing threat in the area.
