Paige Neumann, the Chapter President of Turning Point USA at the University of Texas, Dallas, was violently assaulted by a man identified as Liam Thanh Tam Nguyen, who was wielding a bicycle lock. Neumann was struck in the back of the head and neck during a tabling event, and Grace Guandolo, the organization's secretary, was also injured while recording the incident. The attack left Neumann with a head injury and destroyed Guandolo's phone.
Nguyen, who goes by the alias "Alyssa," was captured on video swinging the bike lock at Guandolo as she recorded. Following the incident, he was apprehended and charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as additional charges for attempting to disarm an officer and resisting arrest. The incident has raised significant concern within the campus community, according to reports.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk shared footage of the attack on social media, condemning the violence against his team members. In his post, he revealed that Neumann’s injury was severe enough to shatter her phone and highlighted that both she and Guandolo were cooperating with law enforcement, who are taking the situation seriously.
Speaking to Laura Ingraham, Neumann recounted her harrowing experience, emphasizing that she had not provoked Nguyen before the assault. She expressed fears that the attack could have resulted in even graver consequences had the assailant aimed lower, potentially threatening her life. Following the incident, Neumann reported ongoing pain and plans to undergo medical evaluation.
Turning Point USA has stated that they are cooperating with the authorities as they search for Nguyen. The incident has prompted discussions about safety on campus and the treatment of individuals involved in political activism.
