15-year-old detained after driving vehicle taken in armed robbery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A 15-year-old was apprehended after he was found driving a vehicle reported stolen during an armed robbery. The incident began on Saturday when police received a report of a robbery at 1917 Tulsa Ave. Officers learned that a man confronted the victim at Denver Park, brandishing a black rifle, and demanded his belongings.
The suspect threatened the victim, instructing him to "Give me all your s***. Empty your pockets." After the victim complied and handed over his items, the suspect struck him on the head with the rifle before stealing the victim's black 2016 Nissan Altima and fleeing the scene.
The victim was subsequently transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. The following morning, police officers on patrol spotted a black vehicle that failed to stop at a sign. Upon checking the vehicle's license plate, they confirmed it matched the stolen car reported in the robbery.
Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle at Point Church Avenue and North Trezevant Street, but the driver refused to stop. A pursuit ensued, leading officers to Whitney Avenue and North Watkins Street, where the car eventually crashed. Three men exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Law enforcement successfully apprehended the 15-year-old driver behind the Ed Rice Community Center. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify the other individuals involved in the robbery.
