Man arrested after making threats to funeral service, Williamsburg police say

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (LEX 18) -- The Williamsburg Police Department (WPD) reported the arrest of 49-year-old Daniel Graiber from Wheaton, Illinois, after he allegedly made threats towards attendees of a funeral service in Williamsburg. Graiber was charged with multiple offenses including "Terroristic Threatening 2nd degree" and "Impersonating a Peace Officer" following an investigation that revealed he intended to cause harm to individuals at the funeral.
According to the WPD, Graiber had traveled from Illinois and attempted to purchase a 100-round drum magazine at two gun stores in southeast Kentucky prior to his arrival in Williamsburg. Information about his threats prompted local law enforcement to issue a safety bulletin to surrounding agencies. He was spotted by Corbin police while driving towards the funeral service.
Upon arrival at the funeral home, Graiber inquired about family visitation times, which led to swift action by police who quickly apprehended him. During the investigation, he was also accused of falsely claiming to work for the CIA and having connections to the FBI and Kentucky State Police.
Authorities seized several items from Graiber, including three handguns, ammunition, a tactical ballistic vest, and suspected hydrocodone pill tablets, among others. The investigation remains ongoing, with the WPD and the FBI continuing to assess the situation.
Graiber is currently in custody at the Whitley County Jail, and further charges may be pending as authorities continue to gather more information. The investigation has involved assistance from the Corbin Police Department, the Whitley County Sheriff's Department, and the Kentucky State Police.
