A man named Norton Canterbury was arrested on Friday for allegedly firing multiple shots through the front door of a home in an attempt to break in, as reported by the Summers County Sheriff's Department. The incident occurred on Doug Craft Road in the Hilldale area on March 28, prompting deputies to respond to calls about the confrontation.

Authorities discovered that Canterbury had fired several rounds through the door of the residence where his partner was inside and then fled the scene. His actions prompted an immediate response from law enforcement in the area.

Deputies were able to track down Canterbury on Brookside Drive in Forest Hill. After negotiations, they successfully coaxed him out of a residence and took him into custody without further incident.

Canterbury is facing a series of serious charges, including domestic assault, wanton endangerment, and firing a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, among others. His actions have raised serious concerns for safety in the community.

The Summers County Sheriff's Department expressed gratitude to the West Virginia State Police and the Hinton Police Department for their prompt and effective response to the situation.
