Social Media Harassment Leads to Investigation in Raleigh County

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) - A harassment investigation is underway following an incident involving a woman who received a series of unwanted and inappropriate messages through Facebook Messenger from an unknown sender. The troubling exchanges began on February 3, 2025, when the woman received a derogatory message from a Facebook account belonging to Les Lilly, someone she did not recognize.
Initially unsure of Lilly's identity, the woman responded by inquiring if he was familiar with her. However, her question went unanswered. On February 13, Lilly reached out again, this time with an inappropriate proposal. When the woman pressed him for clarification about who he was, Lilly gave a vague reply and attempted to avoid further discussion.
The woman firmly requested that Lilly stop messaging her, to which he initially agreed. However, he later disregarded her request by sending another message, prompting her to contact law enforcement for assistance. On February 18, authorities conducted an interview with Lilly regarding the ongoing messages.
During the interview, Lilly confessed to sending the inappropriate messages, acknowledging that he understood they were wrong and intended to disturb the woman. He also permitted the police to photograph his phone as part of the investigation.
Officials confirmed that Lilly had used his mobile device to harass the victim with intent. The case highlights the serious nature of online harassment and the importance of taking such incidents to law enforcement.
