Investigation underway after toddler dies in Lakeside

LAKESIDE, Calif. -- An investigation has commenced following the tragic death of a toddler in Lakeside on Saturday night. Emergency services responded to a distress call reporting that a toddler was not breathing at approximately 8:53 p.m. on Camino Del Tierra.

Deputies from the Lakeside substation and paramedics from the Lakeside Fire Department arrived on the scene and attempted lifesaving measures. Despite their efforts, the toddler was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to the hospital.

The San Diego Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the child's death, including determining the cause and manner of this heartbreaking incident.
