AURORA, Colo. (KKTV) - A standoff unfolded in Aurora on Saturday following an attempt by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office to stop a stolen vehicle. Deputies initiated the stop at the intersection of South Parker Road and East Mississippi Avenue around 7:30 a.m., but the driver failed to comply and subsequently crashed the vehicle at South Parker Road and South Dayton Street.

After the crash, both suspects fled the scene. Authorities were able to locate and arrest the female suspect, while the male suspect escaped and was reported breaking into a condo at 9901 E. Evans Ave. Witnesses at the scene provided this crucial information to law enforcement.

As the situation developed, multiple roads were closed to ensure public safety, and SWAT teams were deployed to engage the barricaded male suspect. Efforts were made to communicate with him to resolve the standoff peacefully.

Ultimately, the male suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The situation highlights the complexities involved in law enforcement encounters and the challenges faced when dealing with stolen vehicles and fleeing suspects.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into both suspects and the circumstances surrounding the stolen vehicle.
