Three men in their 30s, all with prior theft charges, were arrested early Saturday morning in Half Moon Bay for allegedly stealing groceries from a Safeway store, according to authorities. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office received reports of shoplifting at the grocery store near Main Street and North Cabrillo Highway around 3 a.m.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspects had fled the scene in an SUV. A short time later, a deputy stopped a vehicle fitting the description and found four occupants inside: one woman and three men. Officers recovered the stolen goods from the vehicle, along with narcotics paraphernalia.

While the woman who was driving the SUV was released, the three men, including the two suspected shoplifters, were taken into custody due to outstanding warrants.

Authorities are urging anyone with information relating to the case to reach out. Tips can be sent to Deputy Lee-Cardenas via email at fleecardenas@smcgov.org or anonymously through the tip line at 1-800-547-2700.
