MATAWAN, N.J. -- A Holmdel man was arrested Saturday following an alleged attempt to remove a Pride flag from a downtown donut shop and subsequent actions that included making Nazi salutes. The incident took place just before noon outside Main Street Donuts, where the store owner reported that a man damaged the metal bracket holding the flag.

Authorities identified the suspect as Maciej Wojciak from Holmdel, who left the scene before police arrived. Officers quickly traced his identity using a photograph of his license plate.

While police were in search of Wojciak, he reportedly returned to the donut shop and was observed making Nazi salute gestures in the roadway, accompanied by simulated sexual acts. During this encounter, he also threatened to set the business on fire.

Wojciak fled a second time but was eventually located near the shop and taken into custody by the police. He is now facing several serious charges, including bias intimidation, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct.

After his arrest, Wojciak was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution as the investigation continues.
