Woman seeks help after being shot

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (WFOR) -- A woman with a gunshot wound approached a public safety aide from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department early Sunday morning, around 4:27 a.m.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene on the 100 block of SW 3rd Avenue to assist, providing medical care until fire rescue personnel arrived.

The injured woman was subsequently transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment.

According to police, preliminary reports suggest that the woman was acquainted with the shooter; the incident occurred near NW 15th Avenue and NW 19th Street.

Fortunately, she is expected to survive her injuries, and the investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing.
