SALT LAKE CITY - A 30-year-old man from Grantsville, Domnic Harris, has been charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after investigators linked him to the possession and distribution of child pornography. The charges were formally issued by the Third District Court.

The investigation began on August 16, 2023, when an electronic service provider submitted a cybertip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This tip indicated that an account user had downloaded child sex abuse material and included crucial details such as the user's email address, username, user ID, and internet IP address. Subsequently, the tip was relayed through several law enforcement agencies, eventually reaching the Cache County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Upon receiving the tip, CCSO detectives confirmed that the uploaded files contained child pornography. They executed a search warrant that reviewed the suspected accounts associated with Harris. Investigators identified Harris as the potential suspect based on billing information linked to his name.

Further inquiries revealed that Harris was on parole for a 2019 forcible sexual abuse conviction. The case was subsequently handed over to Adult Probation and Parole for additional investigation. On March 11, 2024, agents visited Harris's residence, where he acknowledged ownership of the suspect accounts and admitted to downloading and sharing child pornography.

During the investigation, agents uncovered disturbing evidence, including pornographic images of a young female on Harris's phone in deleted files. Following this discovery, he was taken into custody, with authorities seeking a no-bail warrant due to concerns about his potential danger to children in the community.
