Road rage shooting shuts down 101 Freeway in downtown LA: CHP

An apparent road rage incident on the 101 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles resulted in the temporary closure of all northbound lanes on Saturday afternoon as authorities worked to assess the situation. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) initiated the closure following reports of a physical altercation and subsequent gunfire.
The altercation reportedly began around 1:35 p.m. between two individuals inside a white Honda SUV on the northbound side of Mission Road. Shortly after, gunshots were fired from a separate vehicle by an unrelated individual on Vignes Street. The incident prompted the issuance of a SigAlert, leading to the shutdown of all northbound lanes.
The northbound lanes remained closed while investigations took place but were reopened by 4 p.m., according to the CHP. One occupant of the Honda SUV sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
However, numerous details surrounding the incident remain unclear. The motive for the initial fight and shooting is still under investigation, leaving authorities searching for more information. The condition of the individual who was shot, as well as the identity of the shooter and any possible connection to the SUV's occupants, have not been made public.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials are appealing for witnesses to come forward in hopes of uncovering more about the circumstances that led to this alarming event on the freeway.
