A police chase in Clovis, California, involving an 18-year-old DUI suspect ended tragically when the driver, Luis Felix of Fresno, crashed, resulting in the deaths of two of his passengers. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Temperance and Belmont avenues.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Felix was speeding south on Temperance in a Dodge Charger when he collided with a stopped Toyota Camry, causing it to spin and ultimately crash into an oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe. Both the Charger and the Tahoe came to a halt in the intersection, obstructing traffic.

Clovis Police were pursuing Felix at the time of the crash and quickly provided medical assistance to the victims until paramedics arrived. Tragically, two of Felix's passengers, both 19, were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third passenger, a 20-year-old, suffered critical injuries. The only passenger wearing a seatbelt sustained minor injuries.

Felix himself, suspected of driving under the influence, suffered major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. His current condition has not been disclosed. Additionally, the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe and a female passenger experienced moderate injuries, and three young children in the vehicle were also hurt but are expected to recover.

The Toyota's driver sustained minor injuries as well. The CHP confirmed that the Clovis Police Department is responsible for addressing any criminal charges Felix may face following this tragic incident.
