Man arrested after domestic dispute, gun brandishing in Summers County

A man was arrested on Sunday in Summers County, West Virginia, following a domestic dispute that turned violent. The Summers County Sheriff's Department reported that deputies were alerted to an altercation involving a handgun at the Lowell Market on March 30. By the time they arrived, the suspect and the victim had already fled the scene in a vehicle, which authorities later found parked at the Talcott Post Office.
The suspect, 28-year-old Chase Keaton, allegedly assaulted the victim by striking them multiple times before brandishing a handgun when a bystander attempted to intervene. Keaton then fled on foot, prompting a search by deputies in the surrounding area. They eventually located him at John Henry Park, where he was taken into custody along with the firearm used during the incident.
Keaton has since been charged in connection with the assault and the firearm's use. In a noteworthy turn of events, while responding to this incident, deputies received another domestic battery call from the Hilldale area and assisted the West Virginia State Police, resulting in yet another arrest.
Summers County Sheriff Justin L. Faris praised his deputies for their prompt actions, highlighting that many were off duty at the time but still responded to the emergency. The quick response by law enforcement helped prevent further escalation of the situation and ensured public safety.
This incident underscores the challenges and dangers associated with domestic disputes and the importance of timely intervention by law enforcement agencies in such situations.
