Miami Gardens police have reported two fatalities following a shooting involving a bus driver early Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m., unfolded after an argument between the bus driver and two passengers onboard a Miami-Dade transit bus. Responding units arrived at the scene to find the shopping center at NW 183rd Street and NW 7th Avenue cordoned off as part of the investigation.

Initial reports indicate that during the altercation, the bus driver fired at the two passengers, who were subsequently transported to Aventura Hospital but later pronounced dead. Witnesses in the area, such as a resident named Wave God, recounted hearing multiple gunshots, expressing feelings of concern regarding the violence in the neighborhood.

Authorities confirmed that the bus was stationary during the shooting, and the driver remained unharmed. The police have taken the driver into custody and are investigating the circumstances that led to the confrontation. "This was a disturbance between the driver and the victims," stated Miami Gardens police spokesperson Diana Delgado, reassuring the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Further information from the Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works emphasized that transit operators are prohibited from carrying firearms as a means of self-defense. County Commissioner Eileen Higgins expressed her sorrow over the incident and the resulting loss of life.

As the investigation continues, the Department of Transportation is cooperating fully with law enforcement to ascertain the events leading up to the tragic shooting, which has left the community in shock.
