HENDERSON -- A stolen vehicle pursuit led to the recovery of drugs and a firearm by the Panola County Sheriff's Office in Henderson on Saturday. The incident began when a deputy discovered a vehicle in Carthage that was reported stolen by the Bossier City Police Department in Louisiana. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the driver refused to exit the vehicle and fled north on Highway 59.
The chase extended into Harrison County and then westbound on Interstate 20 as officers from Panola County, Harrison County Sheriff's Office, and a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper pursued the suspect. The pursuit continued along Highway 43, eventually moving back into Panola County and then into Rusk County.
The vehicle was finally stopped when a Highway Patrol trooper intercepted it, ending the chase near a local restaurant in Henderson. Following the conclusion of the pursuit, authorities recovered drugs and a firearm from the stolen vehicle.
The driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by law enforcement. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Panola County Jail.
