PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) - The Panama City Beach Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night at Pier Park, specifically near Dave and Buster's, injuring three individuals. The incident took place around 9:19 p.m. while a significant police presence was already patrolling the area, close to where the shots were fired.
Upon arrival, authorities found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening, and the victims were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Panama City Beach Police Chief JR Talamantez announced that an attempted murder investigation is underway, although he noted that a specific motive for the shooting has not yet been established.
During the investigation, Chief Talamantez confirmed that four persons of interest are currently in custody, but he did not provide details regarding their potential involvement as the shooters. The police are actively working to gather more information regarding the incident.
This shooting incident comes at a time when police have been actively managing large crowds of spring breakers in the area. Chief Talamantez emphasized that officers have faced challenges with maintaining order, as they often encounter resistance from the crowds they are meant to supervise.
