One suspect in Moses Lake deadly drive-by shooting arrested in Beaverton; another suspect sought

A suspect involved in a deadly drive-by shooting in Moses Lake, Washington, was arrested early Friday morning in Beaverton, Oregon, as reported by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The shooting, which occurred on March 21, resulted in the death of a 14-year-old and injuries to four others.

Eighteen-year-old Matthew Valdez was taken into custody at approximately 2:30 a.m. at a Beaverton apartment. He is currently being held in Washington County as he awaits extradition to Washington state. Another suspect, an unnamed teen, was apprehended on March 24 at a hospital in Richland, Washington.

Authorities are still searching for the third suspect, 20-year-old Jose Beltran-Rodriguez, who has an outstanding arrest warrant dated March 25, with charges including first-degree murder. U.S. Marshals previously executed a search warrant at a home in Spokane associated with Beltran-Rodriguez on March 27.

U.S. Marshal Craig Thayer emphasized the importance of bringing those responsible for this "horrific murder" to justice, noting that two arrests have been made while efforts continue to locate Beltran-Rodriguez. He is believed to be affiliated with the Norteños, a transnational criminal gang linked to drug trafficking and violent crimes.

Beltran-Rodriguez is considered armed and dangerous, prompting authorities to urge the public not to approach him. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the nearest U.S. Marshals office or call 911.
