Federal authorities are investigating a fire that damaged the entrance of the Republican Party of New Mexico's headquarters in Albuquerque early Sunday morning. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) reported that incendiary materials were found at the scene, although specifics about these materials were not disclosed.

This fire incident comes amid a series of vandalism cases targeting Tesla dealerships across the United States, linked to anger over the company's owner, Elon Musk, and his ties to Republican policies. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has characterized these acts as a "wave of domestic terrorism," highlighting the use of Molotov cocktails in some instances. Fortunately, despite the escalation of such attacks, no injuries have occurred.

Firefighters promptly responded around 6 a.m. and managed to control the blaze within five minutes. While the building was unoccupied and no people were injured, significant damage was reported, particularly to the entrance and interior, which suffered extensive smoke damage. The New Mexico Republican Party Chair, Amy Barela, expressed gratitude to the firefighters for their quick action that likely prevented further damage.

Mayor Tim Keller condemned the incident as a cowardly act, emphasizing that politically motivated crimes are intolerable. He praised the local fire department for their efficient response and encouraged anyone with information about the fire to come forward. Additionally, GOP representatives discovered graffiti on the building that read "ICE=KKK," although ATF officials did not comment on this finding.

Agents from the FBI were also involved in the investigation at the scene, indicating the seriousness of the matter. As authorities continue to gather information, the community remains alert to the implications of such politically charged vandalism and arson.
