Saratoga Springs PD releases names of 8-year-old boy killed by gunshots, mother critically injured | Gephardt Daily
SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, March 30, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- The Saratoga Springs Police Department has identified the victims of a tragic shooting that occurred on Friday morning. Eight-year-old Eli Painter was found deceased at his home on North Willowbrook Lane, while his mother, 44-year-old Jessica Lyman, suffered critical injuries.
Emergency responders, including police and paramedics, quickly attended to the scene following an alert from Jessica's 17-year-old daughter, who discovered the situation upon returning home. Despite efforts to save Eli, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Jessica was then treated on-site before being airlifted to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Authorities have confirmed that a 15-year-old boy present in the residence at the time of the incident was unharmed. In response to the shooting, officers established the home as a crime scene and initiated a comprehensive investigation, involving detectives and forensic technicians to collect evidence.
The police department is actively canvassing the area for witnesses and reviewing potential video surveillance footage. They have acquired a search warrant to further investigate the home and have begun interviewing individuals present during the incident, as well as family members.
