INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -- A shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis left one person dead and another critically injured on Sunday evening, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 10000 block of East 42nd Street around 7:10 p.m., near the Silver Express Foodmart convenience store. Upon arrival, they discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, both of whom were transported to local hospitals under critical conditions.

Shortly thereafter, at 8:11 p.m., IMPD confirmed that one of the victims had succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

As of now, investigators have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any potential suspects.

This incident has prompted an ongoing investigation by the police department.
