Deputies investigating after two people were found dead in a car

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Authorities in Whitley County are conducting an investigation following the discovery of two bodies inside a car.

The incident began when the Whitley County Sheriff's Office received a report about a suspicious vehicle around 11 a.m. on Sunday. A concerned citizen informed deputies that a Chevy Malibu was stopped in the middle of the road, with the driver seemingly unconscious at the wheel.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the vehicle still running, with two individuals deceased inside. During the investigation, a handgun was located, although the sheriff's office has not disclosed its specific location within the vehicle.

The deceased individuals have been identified as George Glenn Gaertner and Surja M. Gaertner, as confirmed by the Whitley County Sheriff's Office.
