Ogden City police arrested 18-year-old Edwin Sebastian Chavez on March 30, 2025, after he allegedly killed his juvenile girlfriend's two kittens and threatened her. Chavez has been booked into the Weber County Correctional Facility on multiple charges, including animal cruelty and domestic violence.

The incident came to light after the young victim reported to authorities that Chavez had killed her kittens and been involved in a physical altercation with her family. When police arrived, they found Chavez striking the girl's brother upon spotting the officers. Reports indicate that Chavez was intoxicated at the time, with a large alcohol bottle and shot glasses available in his bedroom.

Upon investigation, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of the kittens in a cat bed in the garage, alongside fresh blood on the floor. The female victim recounted that during an outburst over the kittens urinating on the bed, Chavez violently struck the animals against the wall. He also made threats against her life during the incident, allegedly saying she was next after killing her pets.

Moreover, the victim described being physically assaulted by Chavez, who slapped her and applied pressure to her throat with both hands before she managed to break free. She confirmed that she did not lose consciousness and refused medical assistance following the assault.

The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting issues of domestic violence and animal cruelty. Chavez's actions towards both his girlfriend and the kittens represent serious offenses, prompting law enforcement to take immediate action.
