PHOENIX -- Authorities are investigating a shootout that occurred early Sunday morning in the West Valley, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old woman and the hospitalization of a teenage boy. The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. near the intersection of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road, where Amanda Franco was found on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, officers noted a significant crowd fleeing the area, tied to a large house party that seems to have sparked the violence. Despite the efforts of firefighters to save Franco, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Police collected evidence, including 300 bullet casings, which indicate that the shootout impacted several homes and vehicles in the vicinity.

In addition to Franco, a teenage boy sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the exchange and was taken to the hospital. As the investigation unfolded, detectives explored potential motives, believed to stem from a fight that escalated outside the house where the party was taking place.

Detectives are now actively seeking witnesses and footage of the incident, emphasizing the likelihood that attendees may have captured video during the chaos. The police have called on anyone with recordings of the shootout to come forward and assist with the investigation.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police continue to pursue leads while canvassing the neighborhood for additional information. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.
