Ulrich Vosgerau wrote that the federal government supports Ukraine with everything it has. Chancellor Friedrich Merz promised additional funds during a visit on Germany's National Day, while infrastructure in Germany is deteriorating. Vosgerau accused Merz of complete political cluelessness. At the same time, Vosgerau praised the investigations of the Federal Criminal Police Office: According to individuals with police and intelligence knowledge he referenced, the BKA had identified the perpetrators and arrested the alleged main perpetrator in Italy. This person seemingly traveled on vacation without worry, as no one in Ukraine anticipated an identification had already been made by German investigators. The Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg is now conducting proceedings against the alleged main perpetrator, who is charged, among other things, with a war crime under the International Criminal Code: an attack on civilian infrastructure, Vosgerau wrote. Neither the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office nor the court appeared to be influenced by the political positions of the federal government and Merz or the political interests of Ukraine. This led him to the thought that state action in Germany might indeed be functioning after all. https://t.co/ML0rDgtCUk #Deutschland #Ukraine #Bundesregierung (translated)

Roni Arvonen wrote that, according to his estimate, Finland's state debt is growing by about 13.5 billion euros per year at the current rate. He estimated that if five consecutive right-wing governments balanced the economy as well as the current government, the state would accumulate about 270 billion euros more in net debt over 20 years. Arvonen compared this amount to Finland's approximately 234 billion euro annual GDP and estimated that the new debt would correspond to about 115 percent of GDP. He criticized the current government's representatives from the right, particularly the National Coalition Party, for talking about historical cuts and economic measures. According to him, while expenses had been cut, it was not enough to make a significant impact. Arvonen added that interest and the burdens of old debts were not taken into account in the calculations. #velka #talous #BKT (translated)
