Our profitability continues to be threatened by unfair competition and by a platform model that operates with free prices. A price increase does little good if we continue to lose services while the number of VTCs competing with us increases. Alberto Álvarez, alias Tito, founder of Élite Taxi, commented from his refuge on a Venezuelan Caribbean island, where he has been lately, that “our profitability continues to be threatened by unfair competition and by a platform model that operates with free prices. A price increase does little good if we continue to lose services while the number of VTCs competing with us increases.” Apparently, based on what was seen in these meetings - Álvarez stated - STAC and ATC are betting on the Madrid model, to legalize the thousands of VTCs that are already demanding their regularization in the courts instead of proposing that they can become taxi drivers. We cannot negotiate a few cents of increase while leaving unanswered the possibility that thousands of VTCs obtain urban authorization and compete with us with free prices in the hands of the platforms. This shows that the narrative of Aliança Catalana, VOX, and Junts is taking hold in the sector.
