What a lesson! What strength! What faith! This Stade de France and these 80,000 young people brought me to tears of joy last night. Silent tears in front of this incredible fervor, in front of this youth that is sometimes said to be lost, without bearings, trapped in individualism, and who were there last night, standing, happy, believing, full of life. A Stade de France transformed into a cathedral of light. A stadium of all France to pay tribute to these saints and martyrs who made the history of our country and whom some dream of rewriting. And me, in front of these images, I could no longer hold back my tears. What a lesson to see this fraternal communion at a time when division and denunciation are promoted. What strength to see this youth daring their faith in a world that hides or fights it. They did not try to hide. They sang. They prayed. They laughed. They held up their faith with incredible joy. The spark was ignited last night by Pope Leon. And the blaze has caught fire. It will not be extinguished. Thank you. Yes, thank you infinitely to all of you for showing us through your joy the only path worth following: the path of life. What a slap to see live and unfiltered the love that binds all these children to this man in white. We could see it in their eyes. We could feel it in this immense clamor rising from the stadium. And for a few moments, in front of my screen, I forgot everything else. The news, the quarrels, the worries, all this constant noise that ends up making us believe that nothing beautiful is possible anymore. There, there were 80,000 young people proving us exactly the opposite. This visit is much more than a visit. It sounds like a new beginning, like a gathering of all women and all men of good will to work towards the civilization of love. Far, very far from overly human political programs. Last night, I did not see a lost youth. I saw a youth that still believes. And I think that is why I cried. Because, for a few hours, these 80,000 young people gave me something that our time tries too often to take away from us: hope. And for that, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. (translated)
