I am appalled by the violent riots and everything that has been destroyed. Ulrich Wickert to BILD: "I am appalled by the violent riots and everything that has been destroyed. Such escalations during demonstrations are unfortunately nothing new in France. Even when I was a correspondent in Paris in the 1980s, I experienced intense protests. At that time, the police also fired into the crowd, and a boy had his hand shot off. Even later, we have repeatedly seen demonstrations escalate, for example during the Yellow Vests protests." #Frankreich #Krawalle #UlrichWickert (translated)
