Folks, you can criticize Chuck Schumer for lots of things. This ain’t it. No one expected this blue wave, & imagine if he’d plowed cash into FL & MS & LA & Dems failed to get to 51 or 52 Senators. Hindsight is 20/20.

We absolutely have an international credibility problem now. But we are no more mad than the country that voted to leave the world’s largest single market & most successful international organization in world history for no good reason. Again, Europeans are just like us: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Preemptively pull punches on an economic rescue package & consign the nation to a Lost Decade that leads to a Democratic shellacking? No, thank you very much. Let’s not do that. bsky.app/profile/mcop...

If we had fully free & fair elections, the wave would’ve been even bigger. We need to still fix our broken, deeply antidemocratic & counter majoritarian institutions. Just winning every election forever on a tilted playing field is not full democracy & not a strategy for defeating authoritarianism.

If the GOP really wants to show that they've learned anything from last night, Johnson, Thune, & John Barrasso would be visiting the White House tomorrow.

This is also why centrist dems & normie liberals should support proportional representation & multi-member districts.

It has been exhausting to spend the last two years trying to convince everyone that The Democrats & Harris overperformed every other incumbent party in the rich world in 2024, but that doesn’t make it any less true: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Folks, the corruption is an impeachable offense. Folks, threatening our NATO allies with conquest is an impeachable offense. Folks, DOGE was an impeachable offense. Folks, deploying the military in 🇺🇸 cities is an impeachable offense. Folks, weaponizing DOJ against your political opponents is a-

We got what we already had, & we violated our NATO & UN Charter treaty obligations along the way. This should have immediately ended his presidency, but we are not a serious country & nothing seems to matter.

The front page headlines & nonstop scandal they we would have, were we a serious country with either a media or a political system designed to deal with a far right authoritarian party, is that this is wildly illegal, unconstitutional behavior that should immediately end any presidency.

This took 30 seconds to find. Let's all be more serious about threats to democracy & what constitutes scandals, please.

In addition to being yet another sign of a far right authoritarian party, this is unbelievably illegal.

“Reverse Emails.” Four days. Two days in a row that the Democratic “scandal” is front and center on the NYT front page. They know how to laser focus whenever they want to.

This is the stuff from @jamellebouie.net. The imperial presidency - created by both parties since WWII & now totally unleashed by the 9 Wizards In Robes & the oath-violating GOP cowards in Congress - can't continue in its current form. We need massive institutional reforms: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

👇🎯 Another advantage is that voting to impeach allows Democrats to actually fulfill their oaths of office in the face of unprecedented crimes & corruption & lawless authoritarianism.
