Meanwhile, everyone who says about Mantzouka that it's impossible for him to reach Sasha's level and laughs at this (which no one knows), let me remind you that Sasha at 23 was the last player of Barcelona's rotation, and at 31 he has 2 MVPs, obviously because he worked very hard. There is therefore no reason to prejudge a 23-year-old boy, let's allow him to work and time will tell.. (translated)
📌 Personal Update: Return to the EuroLeague Academy - This time as an instructor📌 A few years ago, I timidly made the decision to leave behind my job as a researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence in Health, as well as my academic path as a PhD candidate, to try my luck in a new and very difficult world: combining my love for basketball, its analysis, and scouting with the use of analytics in it. My first stop when I made this decision was the EuroLeague Coaching Academy. Today, a few years later, I am really happy to announce that I am returning to the Academy, this time from a completely different role, as an instructor in the Advanced Analytics Module. More details about the courses I will be teaching will be announced soon. Despite the many hours I have spent so far in academic classrooms, this is certainly the most beautiful and significant teaching challenge I have taken on. It is truly a great honor to receive this offer, and to be honest, I needed about zero seconds to say “yes.” 😅 What makes this moment even more special for me is seeing the cutting-edge work we build every day at Shot Clock on Advanced Basketball Analytics & Scouting starting to find its place at the highest level with the teams we collaborate with and of course now at one of the most important levels of European basketball and the largest coaching academy in the world. From a student of the Academy, back to the same Academy as an instructor. A circle that a few years ago I certainly could not have imagined. 🙏🏀 More coming soon. 👀 #BasketballAnalytics #EuroLeague #Basketball #AdvancedAnalytics #SportsAnalytics #BasketballScouting #Coaching #ShotClock (translated)
Whether Lefteris Mantzoukas will continue at this level of performance will be seen later - it is something that will be judged in the coming months. Despite the confidence and the nice things in his offense, it is his defense that has (personally) left me speechless at this moment. The guy "works" hard on defense, doing details that players often "bore" or consider unnecessary. An early tag before he goes to his man and leaves Yabusele on the weak side, and a textbook contest on Patty Mills are just two of the over 10 such highlights from his first two games in the EuroLeague. These are not samples of talent; these are samples of "I'm determined to do whatever it takes to play," and it’s rare to see. I really want to see him continue like this because it’s an example for every player. (translated)
When Panathinaikos hired Obradović, I told a friend that it didn't make sense to give such a budget to a coach who has, after all, been surpassed by basketball. "Naive," he replied to me. "You forget that he is Serbian and he is respected by those who need to." After yesterday's disgraceful actions by Lesor, I understood exactly what he meant. 🫣 (translated)
- He came for the money - He came to end his career with a good contract - As if he has the appetite he used to have - He will leave earlier - Basketball has surpassed him - The players don't listen to him - He is old He is the #GOAT and just enjoy what he is preparing, you will love it 💪 #paobc (translated)
Nann, Heitz, and Sloukas will return, and if they lose in possessions, otherwise, he would have easily been the MVP this year… #paobc (translated)
The issue of the tickets, the team must look into it; the image is not nice. #paobc (translated)
We can say a lot about the identity that #paobc seems to have. Regarding the coaching work and its potential, one only needs to see the difference of the lineup Grant-PK-Mantzoukas-Yabu-Dinou between the 1st and 2nd matchday. 100 points and now Maccabi ☘️ (translated)
