Miguel Araiza shared a tribute from Ian McKellen to Patrick Stewart. McKellen remembered that Stewart was born and raised in Yorkshire and said that his accent and frankness reflected the pride he felt for the region. He added that this sincerity made him someone worthy of trust, admiration, and love. McKellen recounted that they met half a century ago when they were young actors at the Royal Shakespeare Company, although they did not share productions. Years later, he recalled, they met in central London, and Stewart told him that he had been offered a leading role in Star Trek. McKellen said he then warned him about the risk of being away from British theatre for years, but Stewart accepted the challenge. According to McKellen, his international fame allowed him to act in films like X-Men and in plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter, and Beckett, in Stratford-upon-Avon, the West End, and Broadway. He also noted that the United States became Stewart's adopted home, where he met his wife, Sunny, who accompanied him through difficult and favorable times. McKellen stated that Stewart never abandoned his roots and that one of his greatest prides was being named chancellor of the University of Huddersfield in Yorkshire. He added that his last performance would be in Avengers: Doomsday. #IanMcKellen #PatrickStewart #Teatro (translated)
