Uwe Boll und die Qualität seiner Filme. Das ist ein Thema, das dieser Tage häufig im Gespräch ist. Ich selbst bin ein absoluter Film-Snob. Nach drei Jahren beruflichem Hotelleben habe ich so ziemlich alles sehenswerte gesehen, was es zu sehen gibt. Aber ich bin auch mit Braindead, Bad Taste, Gayniggers from Outer Space und The Evil Dead aufgewachsen. B-Movies und Trash sind ein Genre, das Spaß macht. Boll ist aus deutscher Sicht ein absoluter Ausnahmefilmemacher aus drei Gründen. Erstens finanziert er seine Filme selbst, anstatt sich dem deutschen Filmsozialismus zu unterwerfen. Zweitens interessiert es ihn kein bisschen, was die deutschen Medien von ihm halten. Drittens sind er und seine Filme international bekannt – zwar einem Nischenpublikum, aber wenigstens kennt ihn irgendjemand. Denn wenn man 1000 Amerikaner fragt, ob sie einen deutschen Filmemacher kennen, gibt es eine kleine Chance, dass jemand Boll sagt, und null Chance für irgendeinen anderen. Und „die anderen“ haben bundesweit eine Milliarde Euro Filmförderungen, Programme und Preise pro Jahr – und da ist die 9-Mrd.-ÖRR-Industrie noch nicht mal reingerechnet! Bevor ich mir als Connaisseur der hohen Filmkunst einen neuen Film ansehe, mache ich immer eins als Erstes: checken, ob es eine deutsche Produktion ist, und falls ja, skippe ich den und sehe etwas anderes. Denn diese 10-Mrd.-Euro-Industrie hat es in den letzten 20 Jahren nicht geschafft, auch nur 10 wirklich großartige Filme zu produzieren. Die Chance, dass ein Film stinklangweiliger woke Unfug ist, wenn er aus Deutschland kommt, liegt bei nahe 100 %. Und Boll? Wenn ich ehrlich bin, würde ich für einen Boll-Film nicht ins Kino gehen. Filme wie Rampage oder Postal sind das, was man sich mit ein paar Kumpels und noch ein paar mehr Bier an einem verregneten Samstagabend ansieht – und dann machen sie richtig Spaß. Mit „Citizen Vigilante“ hat er jetzt einen echten Treffer gelandet. Der Film enthält einige „bollige“ Momente wie den komplett sinnlosen Verkehrsmord nur, um ein explodierendes Auto im Film zu haben 😂, aber ansonsten ist es legitime, notwendige und wirklich gut gemachte Gesellschaftskritik genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt. Außerdem ist Uwe Boll einfach cool. 2006 forderte er mehrere Filmkritiker, die seine Filme verrissen hatten zu Boxkämpfen heraus und hat alle besiegt! 😁 #BMovies #TrashCinema #UweBoll
