Članek opisuje pričevanje Janeza Janše st. (1927–2006) o njegovem preživetju med povojnim nasiljem leta 1945. Pričevanje je leta 1993 zaupal uredniku Družine Janezu Grilu, svojim otrokom pa ga je razkril šele, ko so odrasli. Med vojno je bil skupaj z očetom skoraj ustreljen, pozneje pa se je pridružil vaškim stražam oziroma domobrancem. Ob koncu vojne se je umaknil na Koroško, kjer so ga konec maja 1945 skupaj z drugimi zajeli partizani. Prepeljali so jih prek Radovljice, Kranja in Šentvida proti Kočevju. Pri jami pod Macesnovo gorico so ujetnike postavili ob jamo in začeli streljati. Janša st. je padel v jamo, vendar ga krogla ni zadela. Uspelo se mu je rešiti iz jame in pobegniti proti Ljubljani. Pozneje so ga ponovno zajeli, vendar ga niso prepoznali kot človeka, ki je že preživel usmrtitev. Ob amnestiji 7. avgusta 1945 so ga izpustili. O svojih izkušnjah dolgo ni govoril. Po Grilovem zapisu v njegovem pričevanju ni bilo sovraštva ali pozivanja k maščevanju, temveč predvsem opis tega, kar je doživel.
