More than 160,000 people were given only minutes to act on Wednesday morning after National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists issued a "life-threatening" snow squall warning in southwestern Utah.

A fresh blast of arctic air is set to sweep across large parts of the eastern United States later this week, bringing snow squalls, powerful winds and dangerously cold temperatures that could disrupt travel and pose health risks.
